At a science fiction convention years ago, a moderator once said to me, "Speculative fiction has always been inclusive."
LOL, no. Not without a fight. Carlos Hernandez invited me to this timely discussion with Anya Josephs, Mimi Mondel, and the always invigorating C.S.E. Cooney. We talked about the work that we are all engaged in to make the assumption of inclusivity in fiction a reality. A lot of people with opinions and platforms are daily robbing inclusivity of its meaning and value. So let me use different words to say the same thing: Pass the pen. Or how about, expand the lens? Bend norms like white light to catch the worlds obscured. There be color. There be awe. There be terror. There be music. There be magic. There be a future we want to live in. Please, take a moment and watch. You'll get some good book recommendations and powerful insights. Carlos asks the best questions. Ken & Willow are gracious hosts of an amazing bookstore. Oh, and swords were involved! So many swords.
